Cursor/mouse pointer scrambled, possibly graphics hardware or driver issue

I recently installed a new graphics card because the old one seemed to be damaged. It is a ASUS GeForce® GT 710 Silent 2GB (90YV0AL1-M0NA00) (NVIDIA). For a few days everything was fine. But then it happened that the mouse pointer/cursor looked somehow scrambled, does not show the familiar arrow and is enlarged (about 2 cm in height). See attachment.
Curious enough this does not happen in case ) boot with the rescue kernel. So now I need an idea why booting with the rescue kernel does not show the strange behavior of the mouse pointer but normal booting scrambles it. Does the rescue kernel use different drivers? In case the new graphics card or mainboard is somehow damaged: shouldn’t the same errors pop up with rescue booting and normal booting?

Thank you.

Hi!
Give a look here: https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/fedora-33-mouse-pointer-got-broken-after-update/69558
Maybe you have to just do an update.
Cheers!

Hi Rafa,

I have had this problem with 5.11.7-200.fc33.x86_64.
With 5.11.9-200.fc33.x86_64 the curor problem was gone, but somewhen in between the session was frozen completely. Now I am at 5.11.10-200.fc33.x86_64 for 1 day now and cross my fingers that all is fixed now.

Thank you
