I have finally customized fedora 44 xfce with kiwi-ng. It took me and google AI about 20 - 30 hours to successfully create a customized, up-to-date fedora 44 live iso. I started out asking google AI to give me a workable config.xml template. I added repositories (including rpm fusion), programs, etc. I ran kiwi-ng many times and got many errors but with the help of google AI I finally got a config.xml that worked.
The first iso booted but asked for a user name and a password. I told google my problem and It told me to add “user” in the config file. I re-ran the kiwi-ng (after deleting all of the kiwi output and the iso booted fine. I supplied the password which I had added to the config file and I was able to log on.
I am uploading my working config.xml file. I couldn´t figure any other way to upload the config file.
Just paste it as pre-formatted text into the very box you are typing in now. Use the </> button above.
Screenshots of text are crap, as they can’t be read easily, can’t be searched at all, can’t be cut or pasted and in your case have to be manually pasted together to make any sense of them.
If the text is too larger (which is about 32K so you’ll be fine), you can use fpaste

No question. I just wanted to explain – contrary to some posts on this site – that it is possible to customize fedora 44 with kiwi-ng.
I tried to edit my post just now, but the edit button is no longer there. I wanted to remove screenshots and replace them with a text file – although I have tried this here before and only the very first part of the file gets placed on the forum. Please tell me how to edit and how to upload a text file. Thanks. Don
It really is as simple as pasting the content of your file (removing the passwords) as text. If you post it at pre-formatted text it retains all formatting so subsequent copying and pasting doesn’t destroy the lay-out. You can do this by typing three backticks on a line by themselves, then the text file you want, followed by three backticks on another line
Unfortunately I cannot get my post into edit format, so I can´t remove the screenshots or upload the text file. Is there a way for me to edit this post? I can´t see any edit icons on or near my post.
