Can't install kde-desktop-environment on F30

I’ve had KDE installed before but decided to get rid of it. Changed my mind after seeing a few things and now I get errors when it tries to install. I’m not sure where to look to figure out what’s blocking the installation. Anyone seen this before?

?? Isn’t part of Fedora (report it in rpmfusion)… You can test uninstall the outdated/unmaintained package…

dnf remove qt5-qtwebengine-freeworld

I don’t have that package installed.

sudo dnf remove qt5-qtwebengine-freeworld
[sudo] password for fuzzball:
No match for argument: qt5-qtwebengine-freeworld
No packages marked for removal.
Dependencies resolved.
Nothing to do.
Complete!

Insist, open a bugzilla report; It needs a rebuild/update in Rpmfusion…

Also you can exclude the package in the installation…

Option 1 (recommended)

sudo dnf group install kde-desktop-environment --exclude=qt5-qtwebengine-freeworld

Option 2

sudo echo 'exclude=qt5-qtwebengine-freeworld' >> rpmfusion-free.repo

sudo echo 'exclude=qt5-qtwebengine-freeworld' >> rpmfusion-free-updates.repo

sudo dnf group install kde-desktop-environment

I previously had KDE installed on my system but got rid of it. Since then, I’ve seen a few things and wanted to give it another try. When I try to install now, I get quite a few errors back from DNF. I don’t know what could have changed that’s blocking the installation now.

Anyone know what might be doing this?

I filed a bug as you suggested.

If I run the DNF install command with the exclude argument (your option 1) it does look as if everything is ready to install. I get the normal list of packages and how much space they will use, etc. and it asks me if everything is ok.

I’m a little bit nervous to hit yes. I don’t want to install a quirky version of KDE. Would you say it’s safe to install this way, or am I better off waiting until I get an answer back about the bug report with rpmfusion?

On the docs site it says to install it as a group:

And I have previously installed it this way before with no problems.

When looking at the group list from DNF it’s listed as an “environment group”. I’ve also installed other desktop environments, always with the dnf group command, including Cinnamon and Deepin.

You are only omitting a package that is not part of Fedora; It is not the death. You’ll be fine…

Installed it omitting the freeworld package and everything seems to have gone perfectly. I have KDE up and running.

Thanks so much for the help!
