Cant format USB drive

, ,

it was a windows usb. i tried to format it on fedora. im not sure what format i chose, i think btrfs.
this is how it looks now

when trying to format i have to “deactivate swap” before the other options are available.
i can delete the existing partition and create a new one. but when i apply i get this:

/dev/zram is swap space in RAM, not a USB drive. For details, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zram.

do you mean that this is not the usb i blugged in?
that means that the usb doesnt even show in the partition manager, even tho i get the notification “USB device connected”.

usb drives should have the path similar to /dev/sda

if you run from a console lsblk you should see it

In a terminal, with USB device disconnected, run journalctl —follow, then plug in the USB device and look for interesting messages in the terminal (the journal collects massive levels of detail, so it can be difficult to find the entries relevant to a particular issue).

You can try disconnecting other USB devices and using different ports. Most USB memory sticks are not highly reliable, so yours my be dead.

here is the output
before plugging:

$ journalctl --follow
