Brightness does not work iMac 2010

Hello everyone, I hope this post is in the right place. I’m having trouble adjusting my screen brightness. The brightness slider doesn’t change anything. I’m using Fedora on a 2010 iMac.

When I put the brightness slider to minimum

cat /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness gives me 1

When I put the brightness slider to the max

cat /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness gives me 16

so if I understand correctly the scale is from 1 to 16 but the brightness does not change with the slider.

I also tried xrandr --listactivemonitors the result is :

Monitors: 10: +*eDP-1 1920/480x1080/270+0+0 eDP-1

but xrandr --output eDP-1 --brightness or xrandr --output eDP-1 --gamma with values does not change nothing.

I’m a bit lost because with my old Linux (Mint or Ubuntu) xrandr worked.

Thanks in advance for your help, here is my configuration :

as you are using gnome please have a look at Gnome extensions for Brightness control.

i use the soft brightness Gnome extension which works very well.
