Bluetooth - No default controller available

Hi,

I just noticed today that my bluetooth is not working. I’m currently running Workstation 39 with Budgie on a ThinkPad L380 with Linux … 6.7.9-200.fc39.x86_64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Wed Mar 6 19:35:04 UTC 2024 x86_64 GNU/Linux

The Bluetooth section from Budgie Control Center show “Bluetooth Turned Off”. When I click the switch button on the top right the message does not changes.

Tried some recipes from Google research but so far the Bluetooth still won’t work. The funny thing is that this bluetooth was working just fine few weeks ago. Really weird.

  • Set Experimental to true at /etc/bluetooth/main.conf

LHDB records for this device show mixed results. Bluetooth support in linux is fragile, so I find it useful to have a USB BT dongle to use while waiting for problems with the built-in device to be fixed. For some systems, bluetooth is activated before an OS is loaded (to support BT keyboards and mice). This can introduce clashes between the linux support and the “BIOS” firmware, so there are often issues with timing of Fedora’s linux-firmware package updates and vendor BIOS updates. Please make sure you have fully updated Fedora and vendor firmware (for the latter, run sudo fwupdtool get-updates in a terminal to list updates for connected hardware).

You may get more details of the issue using journalctl -b -g btusb and journalctl -b -g blue.

You can restart the Bluetooth service by opening a terminal and entering the following commands:

sudo systemctl restart bluetooth

Confirm that your Bluetooth adapter is recognized and functional. You can check this by running:

systemctl status bluetooth

Make sure you have the necessary Bluetooth packages installed. Run the following command:

sudo dnf install bluez bluez-tools

Use the following command to discover available Bluetooth devices:

bluetoothctl devices

There are several things you can do from bluetoothctl like :

power on
agent on
default-agent
scan on

including pair XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX if you need to manually pair the devices.
