Allow Remote Desktop Connections from Windows 11

Is there a way to do a repair on the OS. I have done a number of things to get my Remote Desktop Connection from Windows to work. It tries to login in and I will either get a blue screen followed by a black screen with an X in the middle - or I will get another login dialog box to login into. Either way, the session ends with no complete connection.

I’m relative new to the desktop world of Linux so I only have limited experience. Although I did use Unix in 1985 (OMG) and in 1995.

I’ve had some luck with X2Go, but I set it to use “Custom Desktop” and point the command to /usr/bin/i3. Support for the X11 protocol is slowly fading. I’m not sure how much longer it will work. (But it is currently working with Fedora Linux 41.)
