After F41 update system apps do not working

After f41 upgrade cannot run apps

Contrary to all my previous updates, I just booted my fresh new fedora 41 (upgraded using dnf from fedora 40), and even though the desktop appears just fine, I cannot run any app, the cursor turns to a spinning wheel for a couple of seconds, and then nothing happens. Gnome-shell is responsive, though (menus respond as expected). Any tips on how to diagnose (and fix ) the problem? I’m posting this from my mobile…
