Acestream engine is broken

I havе

Fedora 42 LXQT
6.17.8-200.fc42.x86_64

and

$ snap list
Name Version Rev Tracking Publisher Notes
acestreamplayer 3.2.3-snap2 17 latest/stable vasilisc -
core18 20251029 2976 latest/stable canonical✓ base
core22 20251009 2163 latest/stable canonical✓ base
snapd 2.72 25577 latest/stable canonical✓ snapd

installed Install acestreamplayer on Fedora using the Snap Store | Snapcraft

Until the “dnf upgrade” at the begin of november everything worked great.

I usually use QTerminal
acestreamplayer.mpv acestream://efc60cfe5e3a349baa02bcc49f6647c21a9c3c5b

First the engine starts, then my favorite TNT spors appears.

Now QTerminal says:

$ acestreamplayer.mpv acestream://efc60cfe5e3a349baa02bcc49f6647c21a9c3c5b

On a similar laptop, where the last “dnf upgrade” was 2025-11-01 09:56:10, everything works as before.

What are your thoughts?

UPD
Moreover
if start the engine first and then the acestreamplayer.mpv
then the engine starts again and another icon of it appears in the system tray.

It works for me on a fully upgraded F43 VM with minimal GNOME setup.

I don’t see this error message, it looks concerning.

Check if the issue persists under a new user with default settings.

You can also try following those instructions for more detailed logs:

Yesterday i installed F43 CINNAMON in the VM.
Acestream also works.

I will find out…

BTW, F43 LXQT refused to start in virtualbox. But that’s another topic.

Solution:
Creat a new user.
Check the player.
Works.

In the non-working user
snap remove acestreamplayer
and immediately
snap install acestreamplayer

Everything turned out to be very simple.
