Accessibility Feedback for F42

Hi,

There is some feedback on F42’s accessibility support that we should address. I am wondering if anybody has cycles to help file these issues and triage?

Here’s what came up:

  • “For instance, the recent Fedora 42 Mate problem, where Orca does not read the installer due to permission issues.”
  • Or Orca not starting on Fedora Silverblue (I’m not sure whether it’s actually included at all).

Looks like the Mate problem (or a related problem?) has been discussed (and fixed?):

I doesn’t look like the patch made it into F42, though. And I don’t think we do any respins of the installer media after the GA release. :slightly_frowning_face:

According to this old issue, Orca should be included in Silverblue. But perhaps the installer has the same problem as the Mate installer?

The screen reader is not functional on installer images at all. It’s something I’ve been looking into since it was bubbled up to me a few weeks ago.

I am also unsure whether Orca is broken for MATE because of the change in Orca 48 to use a D-Bus interface for activation key intercept.
