I know you can kill processes in many ways, but I really miss the xkill
command that was available in Ubuntu. You just click and kill, no need to worry about what the process is called or anything. Just a click on the troubled window. Is there something like this available in Fedora 41?
If you have wayland then the old xkill will not work.
If you are trying to kill a app that has a window abs its not responding then just click the close button. After a delay you will see a pop up asking if you want to wait longer or kill the app.
Is that what you are after?
If you’re using GNOME, you can kill a window app by accessing the Activities Overview, and then close the desired windows by pressing the overlayed x
button.
Clicking the x
button either on the window or after entering the activities overview does not (always) work. xkill
is more violent, it just kills the app no matter what. Clicking on the x
button is a bit more subtle and sometimes it fails.
I web searched for “xkill for wayland” and that lead me to a page that explained that KDE plasma has this built in on Ctrl-Meta-Esc. I just tried it and it works well.
