VMware Fedora 41 black screen after dnf upgrade

I confirm that the last mesa update (24.3.4-3) solved the issue in my case also.

I can confirm as well that the Mesa 24.3.4-3 update solved my issue on both F41 and rawhide.

hmm, didn’t work for me. I tried downgrading mesa to 24.2.4-1 and upgrading to 24.4.4-3 and no joy on either.

I’m using vmware using the vmsvga option for graphics.

There is one issue still with F41/Mesa/Wayland/GNOME that occurs when 3D acceleration is enabled for a VMware VM and the latest Mesa packages (24.3.4-3) are installed. The gdm greeter displays in a what appears to be a dimmed window. You can see the GDM greeter’s menu icons in the uppre right corner (but you can’t click on them and get any action), the Fedora logo appears dim, and no username prompt is visible.

Resizing the virtual machine’s window (such as by enabling then disabling full screen mode for the VM) will work around this issue. This is evidently a regression - there seems to be a lot of work going on in Mesa/GNOME/Wayland/mutter lately that is causing some regression in behavior on some environments.
