Touchpad not working in Rawhide kernel versions later than 6.12.0-0.rc0.20240920gitbaeb9a7d8b60.7.fc42.x86_64

On the aformentioned kernel version, I could see that the touchpad was detected
cat /proc/bus/input/devices:

I: Bus=0018 Vendor=04f3 Product=30a6 Version=0100
N: Name="ELAN0406:00 04F3:30A6 Touchpad"

However, on later kernel versions, the touchpad was not detected; I could not move the cursor when at the login manager, or entering into a DE in either Xorg or Wayland.

Yeah, I see the same thing here on my frame.work laptop.

I filed 2315565 – touchpad no longer detected since kernel-6.12.0-0.rc0.20240924gitabf2050f51fd.11.fc42 on framework laptop on it.

You realize, I hope, that rawhide is a development version and subject to occasional breakage in unexpected ways.

It would be better (and much more stable) if you were running a current released version such as 40 or the soon to be released Fedora 41 Beta version.

This forum is not really prepared to support rawhide.

Looks like more people reporting this in 2314756 – My touchpad doesn't work anymore

and it seems its been tracked (ha) down to a driver taking over things it should not, and has been reverted. I am not sure when the revert will land in rawhide, but hopefully soon.
