Touchpad is erratic on thinkpad T14 AMD Gen2

,

As the title suggests, I have been having issues with an erratic touchpad input. The cursor jumps around erratically now and then. The trackpoint however is fine.

I have experienced the issue on the fedora kernel as well as a the latest vanilla 5.16 kernel on Fedora 35.

I am able to reload the psmouse module on the vanilla kernel as I built the mouse as a modular driver in the kernel config. However, this only temporarily fixes the issue as the problem reappears within 10-15 minutes.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi, would you like to post the result sudo libinput list-devices?

I’m not sure, but you could try to add kernel parameter i8042.nomux=1 with:

sudo grubby --args="i8042.nomux=1" --update-kernel=ALL

Then reboot and see if there any changes.

If above not works, you could remove it with:

sudo grubby --remove-args="i8042.nomux=1" --update-kernel=ALL

Btw, may be you also want to report it to bugzilla.redhat.com against libinput.
