Hi all,
I’m running Fedora 42 KDE on a ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 (AMD CPU) and experiencing frequent touchpad freezes:
• Cursor moves normally for ~30–60 seconds, then freezes for ~30-60 seconds, then resumes. Occasionally, the cursor stops responding entirely. (Rebooting the system temporarily enables the cursor to function)
• No external mouse connected; USB ports aren’t involved.
Environment:
Operating System: Fedora Linux 42
KDE Plasma Version: 6.3.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.14.0
Qt Version: 6.9.0
Kernel Version: 6.14.6-300.fc42.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 4750U with Radeon Graphics
Memory: 14.8 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon Graphics
Manufacturer: LENOVO
Product Name: 20UES0S82S
System Version: ThinkPad T14 Gen 1
What I’ve tried:
Rebooting the computer multiple times, shutting down the computer multiple times, researching on other forums to no avail.
Relevant log excerpt (from journalctl -f
):
Diagnostic outputs:
• libinput list-devices
→ reports PS/2 Synaptics TouchPad
Question:
Has anyone seen these repeated psmouse errors on a T14? Are there kernel parameters, driver settings, or BIOS tweaks that reliably stop the freezes? Any pointers on how to gather more useful logs or debug further would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
