the command I used to clean out the files was the one suggested earlier, rm ~/.local/share/Steam/logs/*.txt
Aye - that’s fine for getting a clean sheet, but every time Steam start it touches nearly every one of those files, making is hard to find which one is recording the problem which is forcing the restart.
this line in webhelper.txt kinda stood out to me, lmk if it’s something to pay mind to
[2026-03-20 14:21:42] Client version: no bootstrapper found
I fixed the issue! (I think)
Turned this off after looking even more into the crash logs, and trying this after seeing it in the Linux Mint forum.
That defaults to off, I believe - just to see what the impact is though, I turned it on, on my nvidia machine, and it’s OK for me. Makes no odds to start up if it’s on or off.
Noted though - maybe it’ll help someone else with the same issue.
