Skanpage won't open (KDE F42)

Hello,

I tried to scan a page using Skanpage, however, when I try to open it, it just crashes and does not open.

When I start Skanpage from the terminal, I get this error message:

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::filesystem::__cxx11::filesystem_error'
what(): filesystem error: recursive directory iterator cannot open directory: El fitxer o directori no existeix [/usr/share/tesseract/tessdata/]
KCrash: Application 'skanpage' crashing... crashRecursionCounter = 2
Avortat (s'ha bolcat la memòria)

Try to install this: sudo dnf install tesseract

I had the problem now.

@achim-6425 I appreciate the tip. However, Skanpage should work out of the box, without the need of touching the terminal.

To whom should I report this bug?

Simply keep running automatically the bug and error report.

I have reported the bug in KDE’s issue tracker as well:

It seems a problem with a package dependency that Fedora should enable. Reported here:

thanks for the report but its a duplicate of this 2350549 – F42 KDE iso comes with skanpage but no tesseract and therefore it crashes everytime one try to start it

commom bugs issue: Skanpage crashes at F42 KDE Plasma Desktop Edition live-iso and fresh installed system

As Neal and Steve pointed out at matrix kde-sig room, the fix will land at skanpage 25.03.80 spec, so lets wait for the new KDE gear 25 version to be released. Until then we use the workaround.
