Regular GNOME shell crashes

At least once a day, the gnome shell crashes, forcing me to log out and lose any work I hadn’t saved. This is becoming a real productivity killer.

The problem reporting tells me that it’s this issue (ABRT Analytics - Report #1025357 - gnome-shell in __pthread_kill_implementation) but that no bug exists for it in Bugzilla, despite it being regularly reported since September. I had this issue in both F39 and now in F40.

Is there a workaround? Or how do I get this escalated to a proper bug to be addressed?

Users who identify issues and the condition that cause them should file the bugs on bugzilla.redhat.com. If they do not do so and others have not seen the same behavior then the bug will never be reported. Your fedora account credentials can be used to log in and report bugs.

You may link the other reports into the bug report so those who manage the bug reports can see it is not a ‘one off’ report.

Does coredumpctl info <pid> (where <pid> is the id of the gnome-shell process that crashed, and can be found out via coredumpctl list) give any hint on which process is causing the gnome-shell to crash? Maybe post here the output.

There were also reports about specific versions of Nvidia causing such issues, IIRC. What version are you on (dnf list installed '*nvidia*')?
