Package mattermost for fedora?

Hi there,

I note that various copr repos packaged the Electronn based mattermost desktop app at some point .

I note that installing the rpm from Releases · mattermost/desktop · GitHub seems straight forward. and it is apache 2 licensed.

a flatpak seems also to exist. I note that many packages are provided as rpm via dfn and flatpak, but not mattermost.

Pelase help me make sense of this.

Fedora packages are maintained by volunteers.
For a specific app to be packaged requires a volunteer who wants to package that app to do the work.

I assume that no one, so far, wants to do the work.

Could you package this app and maintain it in Fedora?
You would get lots of help is you want to do this?

Apparantly, Mattermost relies on Electron and needs to bundle it. This basically prevents it from being packaged as an rpm in Fedora.

Technically, one can “put everything into an rpm”, of course, but besides being against the guidelines it also makes no sense. Flatpaks or AppImages serve that purpose in a much better way (because they isolate what they bundle).
