Kernel Panic since running system updates

Newer Fedora user. Installed Fedora 42 KDE on a new Lenovo Slim 7i laptop about 3 weeks ago. No issues with hardware/drivers or crashes since then. Today I installed some system updates (last ran updates on August 6th) and get the following error after the required reboot:

error: ../../grub-core/fs/fshelp.c:257:file '/initramfs-6.15.9-201.fc42.x86_64.img' not found

Then after a few moments goes to the Kernel Panic screen saying VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)

I can boot into the OS using a different kernel from grub, such as 6.15.8-200, while the top option 6.15.9-201 will not boot (gives above errors).

Would appreciate any assistance.

This is a known issue. A new Initramfs is generated when new kernel is installed. Unfortunately, sometimes this doesn’t happen – for several different reasons.
