How to extract ".pkg" files?

Greetings, everyone.

I have recently downloaded a “.pkg” file but I am unable to extract it with Ark on Fedora 42 KDE Plasma – the following message shows up:

“An error occurred during the extraction of ‘/home/user/Downloads/Bloodborne.PS4-DUPLEX/Bloodborne.incl.Update.1.09.PS4-DUPLEX.pkg’: Corrupted file or insufficient permissions.”

The file has the size it should have (nearly 30 GB), but I can’t see nor extract its contents. Any help would be appreciated. I have also tried other file extractors – but to no avail.

It is likely a special format used by game makers.
You could try usinf the file command on the .pmg to see if it knows the format.

What are you expecting find inside it?

" You could try usinf the file command on the .pmg to see if it knows the format.":

“user@fedora:~/Downloads/Games$ cd ~/Downloads/Games/Bloodborne.PS4-DUPLEX/
user@fedora:~/Downloads/Games/Bloodborne.PS4-DUPLEX$ file Bloodborne.incl.Update.1.09.PS4-DUPLEX.pkg
Bloodborne.incl.Update.1.09.PS4-DUPLEX.pkg: data”

“What are you expecting find inside it?”:

Well, I expect to find the base game together with the DLC, which I intend to run with a PS4 emulator – but I can’t do that when Fedora refuses to extract .pkg files.

I would ask the PS4 emulator community how to do this.

Hello!

I would recommend for you to follow a complete guide on how the installation process for Bloodborne on emulator. Now, when it comes to the PKG file technically speaking you don’t have to extract it, you have to install it. In order to do that, there is an option over ShadPS4 that you can install PKG. files (the game) into the emulator.

If you have further questions, please let me know or if you need further guidance!

Good luck!
