How to configure dedicated graphics on HP Pavilion 690-0040 with both APU and GPU

I’ve attempted my favorite distros and de’s but to no avail. I’m unable to login to the DE of any distro without nomodeset. amdgpu typically does all the necessary work on all my favorite distros but even on Fed 42 I’ve been unable to track down the issue.
With nomodeset my two displays (both of which are plugged into my GPU, not the onboard HDMI) are not recognized and mirror each other by default. If I go to display settings it shows one display but it actually labels it as “none” and I’ve no option to edit the 2nd display / duplicate/extend etc..
Please any points in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

So far I’ve doublechecked bios settings (secure boot disabled, etc) but there’s no option to disable integrated graphics. Under a section I think called “VGA Config” it gives me two identical VGA options to choose from to set as “primary”. Selecting either of these as primary has no effect.
