In this thread we found out that one issue that made me propose this change could be solved differently.
(Not all, as there may be users wanting to manage nonremovable drives, but this is for another time)
There must be a bug because some adapters didnt show up as removable/non-system drives.
I will try to find the one that didnt work normally.
And then I think it would be good to find a solution for this detection issue.
Did you experience similar issues?

It may well be that the bug is in the hardware enclosure not reporting it is removable.

Well, how would we deal with this then? I am pretty sure some random maybe outdated enclosure will not get a fix.
If we find a good workaround, this could just be documented.
Indeed low quality hardware will stay broken.
You would need a kernel knowledgable person to comment if there is a way of adding a quirk for an enclosure that lies about its features.
But beware that reports here and on the fedora list say that these low quality enclusures have other issues that software cannot fix.
