Hi. A while ago I noticed this weird bug with flatpak version of Firefox (and other flatpak browsers), when I save an image/file from the browser, my browser hangs and lags out for 1-2 sec everytime I save something. I have already discovered that the culprit is my default Downloads folder for some reason, I don’t have this problem when I save stuff to another drive or folder. It’s only happening in Flatpak browsers, and not only in Firefox. I don’t know what’s causing this and I can’t find anything about it, I opened a bugzilla ticket too. I don’t have RAM or CPU problems, everything works normal besides this.
Do you have many files in ~/Downloads directory?
Not at the moment. Happens with a small amount of files too. It’s kinda working good when I empty the folder but starts doing it after a few downloads. I tried with other folders with a lot of files in it and they don’t have this lag problem.
Is it working differently if you change the location of the Downloads folder in Firefox Settings?
Yes. I can save to any other folder on my pc without problems, even if they have a lot of files in it. So far only the stock system Downloads folder does this weird lag thing. Even renaming the Downloads folder helps, so I don’t really understand. I tried some Flatseal tweaks too but nothing helped.
