F40 Artifacts Compiz with Radeon 6600

I recently built a new PC with a Radeon 6600 and have strange artifacts anywhere where there’s motion on screen - e.g. dragging windows.

I tested an Nvidia card in the same machine, and had no similar issues.

I’m running the F40 Mate Compiz spin - and it appears to only be an issue with Compiz running.

When I view a youtube video full screen it appears that there’s a bar of artifact that moves up the screen.

What can I do to help diagnose and fix the issue? Instruction on re-installing (rebuilding?) the kernel driver for AMD would be good to rule that out.

Thanks,
Rob

I would doubt that you have to rebuild the kernel.
Check that it is not your cable (probably not but always good to check)
Do an update (the kernal updates roll out regularly) for the kernel, AMD driver and compiz.
If that does not work, then try to uninstall compiz.
If that does not work then try another desktop environment?

Good luck.

Thanks Matt,

For anyone else seeing this, adding the below to a new file in /etc/profile.d fixes it…

export AMD_DEBUG=nodcc
