Does the Docs infrastructure support any graphing syntax?

Discourse, GitLab, and Forgejo support MermaidJS for inline graphs. Does the Docs infrastructure support an equivalent? If not, might I be permitted to report this at gitlab.com/groups/fedora/docs/-/issues? I ask because I appear to be disallowed.

Similarly, I attempted to ask this in docs-team, [1] but I’m not allowed to.

I changed it for you. Though I wonder that you cannot use the docs-team tag → did you try to use that tag in the Project Discussion category or in ask.fedora? I ask as that tag is intended only for Project Discussion, which is the place where the Docs team organizes itself. So if you tried to use the docs-team tag in ask.fedora (which only knows docs ), then that might explain the issue.

Docs team, does it make sense to get rid of the docs tag in ask.fedora? I am not sure if it makes sense to have a tag there, I presume it is not intended for use anyway by you, and I assume you prefer “questions” around Docs (like this one) to be discussed in docs-team within project discussion anyway, don’t you? If you agree, I can delete it for you, to decrease the likelihood of confusion in future and to avoid that people ask stuff about Docs in ask.fedora without you noticing it (I here presume that the ask-fedora docs tag is not followed). Let me know if I shall delete it :classic_smiley:

@py0xc3, I did. Thanks. I’ve suggested, upstream, that the error be more actionable:

Hi, yeah, I always thought it was odd that we had both docs and docs-team - it just never bugged me enough to actually try to do anything about it. If you can get rid of docs, that would be great.

@rokejulianlockhart No, unfortunately we don’t have support for that at the moment.

Forgejo might, so when we migrate… well, our docs aren’t built by the git forge (pagure, gitlab, etc.) and won’t be by Forgejo either, but we might be able to set up Forgejo builds in certain repos that would output static images which could then be included in the docs.

Also, re: permissions for the docs group in Gitlab - the link you posted is just the sum of all issues in a bunch of separate repos, so there’s no way to open an issue there. Can you open an issue here? Issues · Fedora / Fedora Docs / Docs Website / Fedora Docs Website · GitLab

@pbokoc, I am able to. Have you any idea why my originally linked superordinate doesn’t provide the indication of this that its subordinates do?

If you’ve no idea, I’ll ask at forum.gitlab.com/new-topic, then file an issue upstream, at gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab/-/issues.

If that can be tracked, I’d like it to be. Otherwise, I’ll forget.

Yeah, I have no idea

I opened an issue for it here: RFE: Implement a way to use MermaidJS or some other diagramming solution in docs (#14) · Tasks · Fedora / Fedora Docs / Docs Website / Fedora Docs Website · GitLab
