Cannot ping gnome boxes VM

Hello, I use Silverblue 32 and installed gnome-boxes with rpm-ostree to avoid the flatpak networking problem.

I just installed an Ubuntu VM and it shows like this:

237225038e6d619edb6eaa11f2bb3e1c720dfa29.png

However, from my host machine:

➤ ping -c3 10.0.2.15
PING 10.0.2.15 (10.0.2.15) 56(84) bytes of data.

--- 10.0.2.15 ping statistics ---
3 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 2060ms

So how do I reach that box?

Maybe this will help:

Thanks @alexpl but that’s no solution. I’m not trying to connect to a remote machine from Boxes. I’m trying to connect to a VM booted with Boxes from outside of it. I ran a service in the box but I need to access it from my main computer, and it simply doesn’t work. :man_shrugging:

Oh! It turns out I had still installed the flatpak version, and then from the dash I only had a single GNOME Boxes icon that opened the flatpak one, which has this known problem.

All I had to do is:

  1. Open GNOME Software.
  2. Search GNOME Boxes.
  3. Uninstall the flathub version.
  4. Reboot.

Now I can use the GNOME Boxes I installed with rpm-ostree and these do have a working network bridge and can be pinged from the host machine.
