I am running Fedora 44. Today as I was in a video call, something went wrong and my built in laptop camera is no longer being detected. I have checked that other programs cannot detect it either. I have also rebooted and made sure everything is up to date. I am not particularly knowledgeable about the systems underlying the camera so any suggestions to get it working again would be appreciated.
Can you in terminal run ‘lsusb | grep WebCam’
It isn’t listed at all. I am not sure if there are software issues that would cause that or if it suggests a hardware problem.
Try old kernel – boot up system and press ‘esc’ button to get grub menu usually will show three kernels and rescue one select second or third one and run ‘lsusb’ or ‘lsusb | grep WebCam’ to see it is recognize camera with older kernels.
