Backup programm (ootb?)

Hi guys, i am new to fedora since a couple of weeks and i have to do a backup… is there any recommended for fedora kde? i try timeshift with a btfrs partition but i got any error… maybe at this point: why have fedora kde no backup programm out of the box?

Personally, I use restic. It’s command line only, but there are GUI front ends for it available.

I had thought that Deja-Dup was installed by default on most Fedora installations, but it’s been so long since I installed, I can’t recall if I added it, or it was there already.

Do you want to perform backups of your (or specific) files, or a full image backup of the entire system?

Hello @hexa11 and welcome on the forum.
You write you use Timeshift so you want to backup your system with or without your data. You have the btrfs file system setup so in Timeshift you need to choose the btrfs way of doing a backup. I have never done that since I never use btrfs.
Which error did you get, maybe that will explain some more about what is going wrong.

Depends what you want to do. If you want to just keep your personal files safe from accidental deletion, or your computer exploding, then I would recommend Pika Backup, or as @anothermindbomb said Deja Dup is also good. These apps will let you easily backup to a folder, an external drive (a good idea in case your main storage fails), or over the network.

If, however, you want to keep snapshots of the system, so that if an update or something goes wrong you can just revert to an earlier snapshot, then you might find Btrfs Assistant useful. Its user interface is a bit awkward, but it’s alright once you get used to it. You could use it to backup your personal data too, but I don’t really recommend it.

Ask more questions here if anything is unclear
