Thanks to florian and pauld for their responses.
Curious. My first step was to read the first query suggested:
“Org.freedesktop.fwupd: Timeout was reached” : May 1 :
https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/org-freedesktop-fwupd-timeout-was-reached/65375
From this query, I got two impressions:
- The error msg might re-surface on each boot.
- A possible fix was to add to /etc/fwupd/daemon.conf :
EnumerateAllDevices=false
I decided to do an immediate cold boot to see if the error msg re-surfaced. It did not. Further, I then did a dnf update to bring my system up-to-date with respect to Fedora 31, and then did another immediate cold boot. Again, the error msg did not re-surface.
I “black-box surmise” that the error msg appeared at the end of the [sudo dnf system-upgrade reboot]
process because that process entered my desktop before it completed. This is the only explanation that I can offer for why the msg did not re-surface on the next cold boot, which I (purposely) executed before the dnf update.
If the problem re-surfaces, I will re-post a query, with a reference to this query. In the meantime, I am monitoring this query. Therefore, if anyone has a specific recommendation, despite the fact that the error msg has not re-surfaced, I am very interested.
