Activate bluetooth

Not sure if BT is activated or not but mouse and keyboard don-t work. How do I activate bluetooth?
Operating System: Fedora Linux 44
KDE Plasma Version: 6.7.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.28.0
Qt Version: 6.11.1
Kernel Version: 7.1.4-204.fc44.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 22 × Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 155H
Memory: 64 GiB of RAM (62.3 GiB usable)
Graphics Processor 1: Mesa Intel® Arc
Graphics Processor 2: zink Vulkan 1.4

opening systemsettings in shell shows>

qt.qpa.services: Failed to register with host portal QDBusError("org.freedesktop.portal.Error.Failed", "Could not register app ID: Connection already associated with an application ID")

activating bt

You get the same issue when enabling bluetooth from the BT widget in the panel?

what widget in what panel?

ah that one:

It says I have no bluetooth device… which is a lie

Nothing on a right click of that icon? Mine gives me an “Enable Bluetooth” there in addition to the one in the settings - both of them turn BT on and off.

Does BT appear in inxi -ezxx output?

Bluetooth:
  Device-1: Intel AX200 Bluetooth driver: btusb v: 0.8 type: USB rev: 2.0
    speed: 12 Mb/s lanes: 1 bus-ID: 3-2:2 chip-ID: 8087:0029
  Report: btmgmt ID: hci0 rfk-id: 0 state: up address: <filter> bt-v: 5.2
    lmp-v: 11

You need to provide more information. Not all BT hardware is supported by Linux, in which case you may need to change the BT chip, easily done with a cheap USB dongle.

Please show us the output from running the following commands in a terminal and posting the output as pre-formatted web-discoverable text (using the </> button):

  1. inxi -Ezxx
  2. rfkill

I did work for a full morning (in fact for about a year) .

I did a hard reset and it works again. KDE-Plasma system settings should give more information (not I), if it decides to break things.

It is rather annoying to save all the work do a hard reset and remember what I was doing (or tell Claude what it was doing).

Thanks for all the advice I got here! This community is hot.

inxi is not a thing on my computer

Install it - it’s going to be asked for in every topic you make here.

The little bit of info you always supply is better than nothing but tells us nothing about the hardware, the software versions, the actual hardware in the tin, what the Bluetooth module is and who it’s made by and so on.

I think there may have been times already where you were asked to use ‘inxi’

It is very easy to install, easy to use, and provides a lot of detail about the system that assists with troubleshooting the majority of issues seen.

I fully understand John :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Us older fellows just want things to work if they were working before. Not all of us want to be Linux Geniuses.
I am just lucky that my work before retirement exposed me more to Hardware/Software configuration then the average punter.
6 months back to Linux and my konsole has already 50+ commands/scripts saved to deal with issues.

We also need the output from running rfkill in a terminal. Please use pre-formatted (</> button) text mode when posting terminal output. The information from inxi and rfkill may help others with similar hardware and issues. Since Linux support has relied on users helping users, we need to consider what information is needed to give a complete picture. Web-discoverable text is an an effective way to make technical details available, and might also improve the advice people get from AI’s.
