A strange message from the dnf command

Howdy,

I’m getting the following messages from the dnf command and don’t understand just what the messages mean and what I need to do to resolve the problem. What does (api) mean?

This is the command I have entered: dnf reinstall gnome-shell

Here’s what I’m seeing:

  • (gnome-shell(api) = 45 or gnome-shell(api) = 46 or gnome-shell(api) = 47 or gnome-shell(api) = 48 or gnome-shell(api) = 49) is needed by (installed) gnome-shell-extension-freon-2:58-5.fc44.noarch

The same message is repeated but the “needed package” is gnome-shell-extension-argos-3^20250327git1326404-6.fc44.noarch

Regards and thanks for the help,

George…

What if you log out of Gnome and go to a new TTY with ctrl+alt+F2 and then run your reinstall command?

MatH,

Thanks for your response.

I’m not using Gnome, I’m using WindowMaker.

Thanks,

George…
