Zincati Update Strategy: time based

Does Zincati provide an Update Strategy that is time based? For example, my update window is Sundays from 2am to 4am.

Can I leverage using Zincati for time based updates? If this is an option, can you share the docs.

Or would it make more sense to (1) disable Zincati, (2) enable rpm-ostree staging and (3) use a systemd unit to schedule a weekly reboot?

Hi and welcome! Yes, starting with version 0.0.11 Zincati supports weekly time-based reboot windows.
This logic is configurable via a dedicated periodic strategy. It supports multiple weekly windows, all times are expressed in UTC and specified in 24h format with minutes granularity.
Full documentation is at https://github.com/coreos/zincati/blob/v0.0.12/docs/usage/updates-strategy.md#periodic-strategy.

Very helpful, thanks!

It looks like the Fedora Docs links to different update strategy docs that does not include what u shared.

Yes, we should update the Fedora docs at this point (patches welcome).

The problem with FCOS docs is that there is an arbitrary gap in time between the code (and docs) landing in GitHub, and the feature being available in all FCOS streams (due to propagation delays in releasing, packaging, promoting through streams, etc). We tried a few different approaches, but all of them have downsides.
