Wrong thermald configuration file in default Fedora

I’m on F40, but I think it’ll be the same on later Fedoras too.

  1. By default, /etc/thermald/ has some weird configuration file name that does not get picked up by thermald.service. So I don’t even know what default thermald confirugation is used by default by thermald in newly installed Fedora.

  2. If this /etc/thermald/ configuration file that’s there by default is like a template file that we need to use, it’s also misconfigured. It prioritizes powerclamp over cpufreq, whereas cpufreq should be above powerclamp.

Also, does anyone NOT use intel powerclamp? It seems so aggressive.

F40 release is unsupported and does carry the latest thermald developments. You may want to upgrade to at least f41.

So it’s fixed in F41?

You cannot know for sure until you upgrade to a supported version.
On my F42 system I only have one xml file in /etc/thermald/

Personally I have no issues with thermal control with the default config for thermald.
