With USB stick laptop only runs Live version, without USB stick laptop gets boot failed error

In the very beginning the Acer laptop had Windows 10.
The USB stick has in total 115 GB space.
So far I have tried Mate, KDE and Budgie.
On my last try I downloaded Budgie on my USB stick, it is the only thing on the USB stick.
I put the USB stick in the laptop, typed in the supervisor password, on the Ventoy thing clicked the only option which was Fedora-Bugie-Live-42-1.1.x86_64.iso, then clicked Boot in normal mode, then clicked Test this media & start Fedora Budgie Live.
On the desktop I clicked Install to hard drive, did the thingies and in the end it said it was successful, then clicked the Shutdown button, then it shut down.

When I turned it on again with the USB stick in, it still threw me to the Ventoy thing an then it still threw me into Live mode.

When I took out the USB stick, turned on the laptop, typed in the supervisor password, then it gave me the following error window:
Default boot device missing or boot failed.
Insert recovery media and hit any key
Then select ‘Boot Manager’ to choose a new boot device or to boot recovery media.

When I clicked OK for that, on the Boot manager at the Boot option Menu I did not see the option to boot from my HDD, only to boot from Network boot IPV4 and Network boot IPV6.

I have tried to redownload grub with commands but as far as I know it is not possible in Live mode.
I also have tried changing the Boot priority order.

The laptop is one of my family member’s. Both they and I would appreciate it if someone were to tell me how to fix my mistakes c: .

This person had a similar issue on an Acer:

They say:

The issue was in UEFI configuration. I had to enable secure boot and add EFI/fedora/shimx64.efi as trusted for executing. The system loaded as expected after that.

Does that help?

You can also switch this off in the bios, to see if it boots without.

Did you have Windoze up and running on it?
Is it still installed?
Did you have bitlocker enabled?

I recently installed F43 (custom install) to an Acer with secure boot turned on.

Is it 7310?

Is it a 2015 model? What is the model name / number?

Could it be a GPT vs MBR issue?

Yes, it helped a lot  . In the terminal I had to mess around, the /bin/bash wasn’t there and had to fix it, I had to reinstall the signed shim and grub2, and had to make the DNS work.

In the Bios in the Boot tab I had to click Select an UEFI file as trusted for executing an after after a few clicks get to shimx64.efi and click that to add it to the allowable database. Then, still in the boot tab at the Boot order priority list I put Fedora for first place.

After all of these, I was able to run Fedora not Live without the USB stick.
