Windows (Vulkan) games not working via Steam flatpak

Hello,

I’ve ran into issues with Windows Steam games using Proton - they are booting, but present only black screen with audio or are entirely invisible without any audio. nvtop shows my nvidia card is working, but nothing happens visually. Games using OpenGL after setting flags to use the Nvidia GPU (__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia %command%) boot and work fine. vkcube seems to be working properly (tested outside the Steam flatpak).

Windows games I’ve tried:

  • Divinity: Original SIn 2 (boots to black screen with audio)
  • Dyson Sphere Program (boots to black screen with in-game cursor)
  • Warframe (launcher works properly, but the game boot into either black screen with audio or is invisible without sounds)

My software:

  • KDE Plasma 6.5.5 (Wayland)
  • Kernel 6.18.9-200.fc43.x86_64 (64 bit)
  • Video driver: Nvidia 580.119.02 (Open kernel module, from rpmfusion)
  • Flatpak version of Steam

My hardware:

  • CPU Intel Core i7-10750H
  • GPUs:
    • Intel UHD Graphics (integrated)
    • Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti (discrete)

What I’ve tried:

  • reinstalling affected games
  • reinstalling Nvidia drivers
  • using different Proton versions

None of those fixed the issue.

I have no issue with Dyson or Warframe on Steam, but I use the RPM version rather than a flatpak. Tried that?

RTX2080, same driver version. Zero issues.

Works for me with the RPM version on AMDGPU.

DOS2 is also working fine for me with the flatpak version of steam on an AMDGPU.

Thanks, after switching to the dnf/rpm version of Steam all games (both OpenGL and Vulkan) appear to work correctly.
