I just upgraded to F43 from F42 and find that all my widgets in the system tray are now invisible. I can use them if I hover my mouse over them, but I can’t see them. Not a show stopper, but would be really nice to be able to go to exactly the one I need instead of hovering over them one by one.
I have upgraded two machines with KDE Plasma from 42 to 43, and this didn’t happen on them.
Have you tried changing the theme or dark mode? One thing I could imagine is that KDE ended up in a situation where it renders light (dark) icons on a light (dark) panel, essentially making them invisible.
Or do you use a custom theme? I have seen quite a few reports here about issues with custom themes.
I am not using a custom theme. I have noticed, after playing around a bit, that when I go to add/remove widgets, none of the widgets, except a few, have an icon showing.
Oh, and now they’re all back! I literally did nothing other than poke around in system settings for themes. When I exited it asked if I wanted to save the unsaved changes. I said “yes” and now they’re back! Grrrr.
It seems my KDE Plasma 6 Fedora 43 has the same issues with Variety (v0.9.0b1). It’s not there or transparent. and the menu can be opened just no icon to let you know it’s there.
Tried switching through the various light and dark themes.
Also tried uninstall reinstall. Has anyone figured out how to solve?
In my System Settings I went into “Displays & Themes” > “Global Theme” > “Icons” and found that none of the icon packs were selected. As soon as I selected an icon pack things went back to normal.
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried switching to Breeze Dark (saw no change) and the to Gnome (saw a change)… then back to Breeze. Still not appearing. I wonder where it looks for the files for apps… maybe it’s missing?
