Why does gdm (GNOME login screen) show me the last login date/time?

I’ve installed Fedora Silverblue 30 and I’ve discovered a new feature in gdm, GNOME’s login screen you see before choosing your user/logging in.

After I’ve entered my password and submitted it, it now shows me an additional line below the password box reading similar to this:

Last logged in on tty2 at So 7. Jul 17:18:06

That*s nice! I mean, it’s interesting/useful to know/read and you can read that for the two seconds it takes until your desktop appears, but I am wondering why this was never there in GNOME Workstation 30?

AFAIK actually apart from the “immutable host”-related changes (i.e. ostree, flatpak etc.), Fedora Silverblue and Fedora Workstation should be quite the same. So why is this different?
