After several years, the appimage issue has not been resolved. Whatever “solutions” that have been pro-offered are not eliminating the problem. The problem is in the platform itself. Following the upgrade to F43 several days ago, here is an error message I received today: “QXcbIntegration: Cannot create platform OpenGL context, neither GLX nor EGL are enabled”. GLX and EGL utilities are in fact installed on my x86_64 system. What now?
Could you provide the name of the appimages that are affected.
Also some logs in addition to just this error message, when you are trying to start the application ?
Thanks for the reply. I’ve spent hours trying to resolve the issue. The appimages affected on my system are TexStudio and Mathpix, the latter because of Wayland. What other windowing is available besides Wayland?
With Fedora 43 Workstation or Fedora 43 Silverblue, there is only Wayland.
With the other editions, there is still an X11 session available.
But on Wayland, X11 application should still be usable via XWayland.
Both work for me under F43 + GNOME + Wayland.
You can try the following:
- Download the latest versions:
- Start it in the terminal and share the output.
- Check if the issue persists under a new user.
The texstudio appimage does not work for me, but the full app does. Mathpix is still f*cked up and I need it for my work. Your comment does not help because Wayland is a problem. I ditched it several years ago for Xorg because it was having problems either with nvidia. The decision by the development team was imo a travesty. Just give me a refund and I will find another solution.
