I get the general idea that it’s telling me Plasma is using software rendering, I’m just worried about why it’s suddenly present and whether I should change the settings. Playing games and using other apps uses my video card properly, so there aren’t any issues with my drivers.
This icon just means that KDE is rendering the desktop shell
via CPU rather than your GPU. I dont have much idea about how it suddenly appeared but iam guessing that its KDE/Plasma update .
Well, i guess you should change your settings—switch from Software to OpenGL, it makes Plasma’s own compositor use your GPU for desktop shell
