So went to do the usual update. Google Earth Pro is failing to update and it has something to do with the key.

OpenPGP check for package "google-earth-pro-stable-7.3.7.1094-0.x86_64" (/var/cache/libdnf5/google-earth-pro-17f28a61f303b7a2/packages/google-earth-pro-stable-7.3.7.1094-0.x86_64.rpm) from repo "google-earth-pro" has failed: The repository does not have any OpenPGP keys configured.
No idea what to do next. I even downloaded the rpm file from the Google Earth website but am unsure how to proceed. My son would probably know but he seems to be busy at the moment…
I remember last time there was an issue with it as well. Is there a way to do the other updates and omit this one. Because when I try to do a dnf update from the command line there are other packages but it just fails so none get updated.
Seems like there is always an issue with Google Earth Pro for some reason.
OK. So from that I did use the --exclude in order to do the rest of the updates. Am I to assume that updating Google Earth Pro is just not going to happen right now. I didn’t exactly see a solution to the issue in the other thread.
Also I was not getting the exact same error message as the person in the other thread. From what I understand the error message to mean… the key can not be verified and the repository is not providing a key. Am I correct about that?
The repository does not have any OpenPGP keys configured.
Hmmm… It didn’t seem to find anything in that location. I did download the current rpm package to the desktop. I guess I just need to point that command at that location. Is that right? error: open of /var/cache/libdnf5/google-earth-pro-17f28a61f303b7a2/packages/google-earth-pro-stable-7.3.7.1094-0.x86_64.rpm failed: No such file or directory
Bear with me. I usually just ask my son and he comes up with a solution. But he is busy doing something else at the moment. And I am trying to learn so I don’t always have to bug him.
I started with dnfdragora and was able to install the other packages that were listed by simply unchecking the Google Earth package because I knew that was the problem. And then I went with my usual sudo dnf --refresh update and that is when I saw the error message that I posted. After that I was able to use the --exclude option to get other packages installed. And now here I am trying to figure out what to do next. Just weird that it is Google Earth Pro that is throwing fits again.
OK my son just figured it out. It went off the command line with this… sudo rpm -Uvh --nodigest /home/coonman/Desktop/google-earth-pro-stable-current.x86_64.rpm
Had to use the -U instead of the -i… Upgrade versus install because we were getting error because of already existing files…
The error message just says that the Google repository does not have any OpenPGP keys configured. Nowadays this is bad. If you trust Google controls its repository just ignore the error message. If you fear someone may slip something nefarious inside the rpm do not update, and wait until the situation is improved.
