VLC: It works everywhere

I used to use mpv but I wasn’t a fan of their stance with CSD with GNOME (they mocked it and can come up with technical reasons against implementing a user-requested feature, while VLC no-nonsense just renders a window anywhere :stuck_out_tongue:)

That person was banned from github fwiw. And thanks to that mpv now uses csd under GNOME! And imo theyre really creative too

I use VLC now on KDE and previously on Gnome without any problems, all file formats are played, especially FLAC and mp45

VLC.

Been using it for years, never had an issue.

fooyin for audio, Haruna for video.

MPV is my preferred video player and generally covers MP4, MKV & webM.

I also prefer Audacious for audio playback.

I like MPV.

vlc for movies and audacious for music.

VLC is quite good, however with some videos mpv is better for showing the right colours, and for Audio its either Elisa (from KDE) or also VLC

I think its hard to find a better media player than VLC.

For a long time, I used Rhythmbox because it supported scrobbling to Last.fm, Libre.fm, and ListenBrainz. I had a client requirement to support submitting my listen history to these three platforms.

However, then I discovered Lollypop, and I found my perfect music player:

I curate a large offline music library, mostly ripped from CDs and physical media that I have curated. I use MusicBrainz Picard to sort my music library in a way that works nicely with Lollypop. I have been super happy with it.

Actually, I‘m using MPV for video and Audacious for local audio.
