😊 What does your Fedora background look like?

The view from my (home) office window, and sway.

thats the tiniest sway i ever seen.

it is a tv or movie theatre  ? anyway very nice

My “monitor” is a 4k TV. It does look pretty small scaled down to 1080p.

Gruvbox-material swaywm desktop, with some hooks for bookmarks and quick links (created many others for todo.txt and personal management)

The hot air balloons is also one of my favs. It’s currently the Mate desktop background on the Thinkpad T520 I’m typing on right now. I’ve been pretty consistently loyal to Mate from its introduction to Fedora 39.

@seth-storm What icon set are you using?

Something new I’m brewing called Steel. I guess it’s done in two weeks time tops.

Oh nice! These icons are of your own making? They look very slick!

Aye. Made on Fedora with Inkscape

Lately, I’ve been using Variety to fetch and update my wallpaper ~every 5 minutes. It’s in the Fedora repos.

I love the F39 wallpaper! Just found the wiki page with all the old Backgrounds and I have to say they were brilliant from the beginning!

I love all these themes, but my problem is:

  • the apps are hard to differentiate, as the factor color is removed
  • new apps always look odd so you need lots of icons

Also I dont know how easy app entry customization is on GNOME, on KDE its graphical, on GNOME its all integrated as if .desktop files would not exist.

Nothing too fancy here. Just some Sailor Moon art on KDE Plasma:

That’s only a problem for people who only differentiate things in colors. I know these people exist, but it would be impossible to please all.

That applies all icon themes, also the default adwaita icon theme. The only one that is close to the neverending completion is Papirus which is staffed by a dozen of people.

It’s pretty simple. In icon= of the .desktop you simple write a name of the icon and it draw for the the icon theme.
