Weird Wayland window pops up repeatedly on virtualization?

What I’m guessing is a clipboard client for Wayland support named “vboxwl” keeps popping up every time I interact with the host machine. It auto focuses on the window and minimizes without actually displaying anything inside the window, which is very annoying and distracting. No idea how to disable it and the docs don’t tell me anything about it.

I am using Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop 43 with VirtualBox 7.2.4.

Thanks for your help,
Jeroen.

Jeroen,

Did you learn anything more about this / did anyone respond?

Phil

This has also happened to me in Fedora KDE as well as CachyOS with KDE when clicking outside the guest machine. The blank “vboxwl” popup seems to be an issue across all distributions running KDE Plasma. I would also like to know how to disable this, as I do not use the vbox clipboard feature.

Just wondering: why do you use vbox (type 2 hypervisor, stand-alone software) when you have KVM (native type 1 hypervisor) which is built-in and is much more efficient?
