Weird Scroll Issue on Asus Vivobook Laptop

Hey guys,

Decade and more windows user here just made the switch to linux as a trial and comparison.

I have an ASUS Vivobook which I used for my Fedora Workstation install.
So everything works normally if i have a mouse plugged in but when I use my touchpad there is a weird issue. In the OS ,settings, text editor and document viewer the two finger scrolling behaves normally. In flatpak apps and brave browser the trackpad is too fast its like its on speed. One quick scroll with my fingers and im at the bottom of the page.

I tried this for some apps but it did not work
flatpak override --user --env=ELECTRON_ENABLE_PIXEL_SCROLLING=1

I dont want to change the scrolling speed on the OS as then it would be unusable on the OS itself.

Just to recap OS apps perfect two finger scroll with trackpad and mouse.
Discord, Brave etc perfect with mouse WAY TOO FAST with trackpad.

Thanks for any ideas!

Hi and welcome to :fedora: !

You mention and issue with Flatpaks, but are referring to Electron or Chromium-based apps.

I wonder if the issue is with Electron-based apps only, and not necessarily with Flatpaks. Can you test an Electron app installed as RPM?

FWIW, I tend to avoid using Electron apps, so I cannot replicate your issue.

Hello Mike and thanks for your response!

I installed Discord via dnf and it was still the same. The scrolling on the app was like 3 to 4 times faster than in the terminal for example using my touchpad. With mouse both were the same.

OK, so we can rule out the Flatpak packaging.

Unfortunately I have no experience with Electron apps. You might want to stick around in case someone else chimes in.

Yes we will see if we can figure out the problem. Thanks so for your response tho!
