Weird pixel in my laptop, it is not physical defect but from OS. It comes and goes. also, when i open overview it goes away

you can see in image it shows on screenshot also. It is just a one pixel. Sometimes it shows only on app, like edge, gnome software. when i open overview it just goes off. position of pixel does not change at all and it always appear on same spot. Also, it doesn’t show up on mouse pointer

System information:

Lenovo Thinkpad E14 gen 5 AMD with internal graphics
fedora 41 workstation

I think it would have to be bad memory. Unfortunately, it is probably the memory in the GPU, so I don’t expect Memtest86+ would find it. If your laptop is still under warranty, maybe you can get it replaced/fixed?

To verify it is not in the software somehow, I guess you could test your PC by booting from a Live image?

Edit: I’ve never used it, but it appears there is a memory tester for GPU memory: GitHub - GpuZelenograd/memtest_vulkan: Vulkan compute tool for testing video memory stability

That seems to indicate a defective pixel in the screen. If it were software it probably would move but a hardware defect would be fixed in position.

The appearance and disappearance may easily attributed to differing screen content in that region (coloration, intensity, etc.)
