I upgraded to Fedora 31 and after experiencing some issues with copy and paste and virtualbox I realised that the desktop is running X11. I would like to test if these issues go away in Wayland. I do not have Wayland session available on login.
“xorg-x11-server-Xwayland” is installed. How do I force gnome to use it or add the option to the login menu?
Hi.
Is package wayland
installed too?
What DE it is?
What Desktops Manager it is?
1- check WaylandEnable in /etc/gdm/custom.conf .
You may have tried to install nvidia driver , nvidia package from rpmfusion contains scriptlets to edit WaylandEnable to false in /etc/gdm/custom.conf .
By the way if nvidia driver installed you must keep WaylandEnable=False otherwise you will have problems booting the system .specifically gdm will not work .
2-search and reinstall/install wayland session.
sudo dnf repoquery gnome-session*
(google translate)
Thanks for that. Yes I have nvidia driver installed.
/etc/gdm/custom.conf also contains the line:
WaylandEnable=false
Are you saying that nvidia driver is not compatible with Wayland?
yes is not compatible with Wayland .
