the other problem is that the only proton version that would want to open the launcher is proton experemental (I tried GE and CachyOS as well), but all it shows when booting up the launcher was a small windows that is hard to screenshot.
I have no idea why this is happening and I hope I can get some answers here, since I am still new to Fedora. any help will be appreciated!
GE and CachyOS bypass the launcher screen deliberately as it serves no purpose on Linux. Apart from that, just came here after a play session on Fedora Workstation. I use ProtonGE latest (11-7 if I am not mistaken).
Can you try deleting the shader cache and try again. And also remove and launch parameters you may or may not have. Also delete the config file if you modified it and you might have set it to “read only” which might be causing issues.
Ok, so I was able to delete the shaders, but whenever I try to load, the application closes, I will try to look at the protonDB forums for a good idea, then come back if I have results
Ok, so while the shaders are not an issue anymore, the game is refusing to load into the game, which confuses me. CachyOS, ProtonGE, and proton experimental hasn’t been providing favors, but at least the shaders cache isn’t a problem anymore
Honestly, I don’t think this is a Fedora issue specifically, but related to something else. Patch notes say:
Updated Nvidia Streamline to version 2.12.0
Maybe that’s not playing well with the nvidia drivers you have. I never used nvidia so can’t help you much about that. I’ve checked Valve’s Proton github page and there isn’t any bug reports so far (but the update was released very recently after all).
Maybe you can start a bug report there and see where it goes?
