Volume level changed with the last night update

i got like 1 gb of updates last night

after the pc restarted, sound volume changed, alot, what was loud at 50% now is barely enough at 100%

i didnt saw any kernel update last night, nor any module for the sound system or driver for the sound card

this is not the first time i had some hardware doing something like this on linux over the decades, i honestly hate when it happens

I am also facing low volume issue , i just fresh installed fedora 44 in my laptop (intel cpu/igpu) and i can barely hear anything when volume is below 50% , earlier on fedora 43 sound was pretty loud

thank you for your reply

lets have patience while it is resolved or we move to other distro, lol

a new update came and i installed it

volume went back to normal, almost ended deaf, lol

i still hate when it happens, but it is solved now

i just got a update, gstreamer iirc, rebooted pc to install updates

then changed volume after it updated and volume plummeted, it is again lower like in the beginning, so, perhaps, it is gstreamer being updated that causes the problem?

i assume it should be only a kernel update, i didnt updated kernel today. it was yesterday the 7.09 kernel that came

this was weird and unexpected

I noticed after the reboot then fixed it in alsamixer (also the input volume - mic boost - was back to 100 and it needs to be set to zero to not have distortion).

thank you for your reply

i tried to lower and raise volume and left it 75% more or less, then checked that mic was turned off, then rebooted

mic was on at 100% and volume was also at 100%, still audio level is lower than it was yesterday, still sounds somewhat low at 100%

scratching head on this tbh

from another post, trying to make anoher gpu work, i was doing some tests changing gpus, i went back to the old gpu, booted pc again, audio is again normal

fedora is trolling me i am sure
