VMware F43 KDE doesn't import ovf files

Hello,

I am currently migrating from windows to fedora 43 KDE.

I succesfully made sure to install every program i need.
For school i need to work with vmware, but it doesn’t fully function even though I installed the correct version.

When trying to import an ovf file, it just doesn’t import.
I don’t get any error-messages, so i just don’t know what to do.

After trying what I found online (installing libnsl), it still doesn’t work.

Does someone know what I can do to make it work?

Kind regards
Kenneth

Have you checked the logs to see if vmware is reporting any errors during the import?

You might want to ask your question in the VMware Workstation community forum over at broadcom.com. The participants over there would be in a better position to help diagnose why VMware Workstation won’t import an .ovf file.

Hello,

I just checked them.
Please see them attached.

Have you examined the ovftool.log file that’s pointed to in the log snippet that you just posted?

Did you check the log referenced in your output?

It looks like it logged the conversion.

Strangely, there isn’t any logfile with that name…

Even right after running it?

Correct, there would be an issue with the ovftool itself then?

Is that your personal ovf or is a generic pfsense ovf?

My personal one

Can you run ovftool –-help from a shell prompt?

And verify that the tool does exist in /usr/lib/vmware-ovftool

Maybe try downloading a generic ovf? If that fails, I can test it here and see if it works for me. On the other hand, if it works, then maybe there is an issue with your ovf.

It’s not there… There would be my issue i guess
